Bach - Passacaglia in C minor BWV 582 - Smits | Netherlands Bach Society
In the Passacaglia in C minor, performed here by Reitze Smits for All of Bach, Bach's genius is as clear as day. As a variation work, it surpasses anything Bach could have heard in his younger years. The ostinato, the repetitive bass line that forms the foundation of a passacaglia, is made up of eight bars, rather than the usual four. The work consists of twenty variations, rather than the usual five or six. And on top of its initial function, the bass line is then split up and treated as two separate themes that, accompanied by a third theme, form the material for an ingenious fugue.

Bach - Fantasia and fugue in G minor BWV 542 - Van Doeselaar | Netherlands Bach Society
The Fantasia and fugue in G minor, performed here by Leo van Doeselaar for All of Bach, is one of the few organ works that can accurately be dated. Bach performed this work in Hamburg, where the post of organist at St Jacob’s Church became vacant in 1720. During a recital lasting over two hours, he demonstrated his skills as an organist and struck his audience dumb. One member of that audience was the former organist Reincken, the eminence grise of the Hamburg music scene, who praised Bach’s improvisational art as follows: ‘I thought this skill had died out, but I see it lives on in you’.

Bach - St John Passion BWV 245 - Van Veldhoven | Netherlands Bach Society
The St John Passion, performed by the Nederlands Bach Society for All of Bach, was the first Passion Bach had written as cantor in Leipzig. The Passion story as told in the Gospel of John is different from that told by the other three evangelists – Matthew, Luke and Mark. John’s version places the emphasis on Christ’s divine origin. Throughout his suffering, this divine origin still plays a role and nowhere is Jesus as human as in the other gospels.
For this performance, we selected a cast of singers under the age of 35. Apart from the leaders, all the orchestra members are also younger than 35. The concert series was preceded by a course of auditions and masterclasses.

Bach - Concerto in A minor BWV 1065 | Netherlands Bach Society
Bach arranged various Vivaldi concertos for organ and harpsichord. The Concerto in A minor, performed by Siebe Henstra, Menno van Delft, Pieter-Jan Belder and Tineke Steenbrink for All of Bach, is largely based on Vivaldi's Concerto in B minor for four violins and orchestra. But of course, he gave it an exciting twist, as in Bach’s version the soloists play harpsichords and B minor changed to A minor.

Bach - Cantata Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme BWV 140 - Van Veldhoven | Netherlands Bach Society
In cantata 'Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme', performed by the Netherlands Bach Society for All of Bach, everything revolves around the parable of the wise and foolish virgins. They wait throughout the night with burning lamps for the arrival of the bridegroom. Five of them have brought along extra oil to keep their lamp burning. The others run out of oil and go off to buy some more. The bridegroom arrives while they are away.

The life of pianist Polina Osetinskaya can be divided into two stages. The first – that of “wunderkind” (a word that Polina herself cannot abide) – was when Polina performed as a girl in huge halls filled with excited sensationalists. The second, which has continued to the present day, is essentially her victory over the first. It is both a reference to serious performing and to exacting audiences.
Polina Osetinskaya began to perform at the age of five. At the age of seven she entered the Central School of Music of the Moscow Conservatoire. Polina gave her first concert at the age of six at the Great Hall of the Vilnius Conservatoire in Lithuania. Together with her father who accepted the role of manager, the young Polina began to undertake frequent tours throughout the former USSR to packed halls and ovations. In her own country Polina was possibly the most famous child of her time and her relationship with her father was portrayed by the mass media as some kind of soap opera after the thirteen-year-old Polina decided to leave her father and study music seriously at the school of the Leningrad Conservatoire under the acclaimed teacher Marina Wolf.
Polina began to tour once again while still a student at the St Petersburg Conservatoire. (The pianist subsequently completed a postgraduate course at the Moscow Conservatoire under Professor Vera Gornostayeva.) She has appeared with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Weimar National Opera, the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the St Petersburg Philharmonic (Honoured Ensemble of Russia), the State Academic Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Virtuosi and the New Russia orchestra among other ensembles.
Polina Osetinskaya’s onstage partners have included conductors Saulius Sondeckis, Vassily Sinaisky, Andrei Boreiko, Gerd Albrecht, Yan Pascal Tortelier and Thomas Sanderling. Polina Osetinskaya has performed at the Wallonie Festival in Brussels, the Mainly Mozart festival, the Frédéric Chopin Festival in Miami, the Stars of the White Nights festival and the December Evenings festival among numerous others.
The pianist has been awarded the Maly Triumph prize. In 2008 she wrote her autobiography Farewell, Sadness, which became a bestseller.
Polina Osetinskaya generally creates unusual and frequently paradoxical solo programmes. She almost always includes works by contemporary composers, frequently justaposing them with traditional classical works: “Contemporary music is not just a continuation of older music. It also helps us discover ideas and beauty in older music that have been lost over decades of the blind museum generation and mechanical and often soulless performing.”
Polina Osetinskaya often performs works by post-avant-garde composers such as Valentin Silvestrov, Leonid Desyatnikov, Vladimir Martynov, Georgs Pelēcis and Pavel Karmanov.
The pianist collaborates with many recording companies including Naxos, Sony Music and Bel Air.

The challenge of this remastered edition was to give homogeneity to a series of recordings made over a period of 6 years in mono and stereo. The Hi-Res treatment (high resolution) has allowed to give a presence never reached before to Glenn Gould's playing. Although Youtube has improved the quality of these video encodings, the sound quality will be much better on platforms such as Qobuz (hi-res) Deezer (hi-fi) ... which benefits from a listening quality without any compression of audio files (see links at the top of the description above).
Clavier-Übung is the German term for "keyboard practice". In the late 17th and early 18th centuries, it was the generic title for collections of keyboard music, first popular after its adoption by Johann Kuhnau, although today the term is usually associated with Johann Sebastian Bach's publication series. At the age of forty, Bach wrote this Clavier-Übung, one of the most important collections of keyboard literature, with an impressive mastery and depth. Here, as is often the case with Bach, virtuosity is a virtue: that of reconciling in a global vision the diversity of Baroque music and language in a demanding balance.
First published separately in Leipzig between 1726 and 1730, the six Partitas appeared in 1731 as Bach's Opus 1. This collection became the first part of the Clavierübung. The six Partitas for harpsichord (BWV 825 to 830), sometimes called "German Suites," are the last major collection in which Bach practiced the keyboard suite, and it is the one in which he reached the peak of his art.

Classical guitars are our passion! We are specialized in the highest quality concert guitars as well as historic guitars from around the world. Our passion for these unique instruments and the joy to give guitarists, passionate players, and collectors the possibility to purchase their own appropriate instrument is the motivation that drives us. Another focus is to work closely with established and young, largely unknown luthiers. Together we want to develop new ideas and share experiences with our customers.
We also recorded pieces for many great composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Astor Piazzolla and Isaac Albeniz (Asturias). You will also find almost all the classical music composers that wrote for the classical guitar. Make sure to discover Agustin Barrios Mangoré, Manuel Maria Ponce, Heitor Villa-Lobos and many more if you don't know their compositions already
You can find our show room in 76137 Karlsruhe, Roonstr. 31, Germany

On February 5, 2024, I had the honor of performing all six Trio Sonatas by Johann Sebastian Bach from memory. Now, as a complement to the official livestream, which you can still watch at the following link [https://www.youtube.com/live/eK9irE8LMAU?si=xXJpjEzjjvLgIPv4], I will be uploading each Trio Sonata individually. These recordings were made one day before the debut concert on February 4, 2024. I am excited to be able to present each Sonata individually now. You can expect one Sonata per week. I hope you enjoy listening and that I can convince you - if I haven't already - of the incredible music.
If you enjoy the music, please support me by liking, commenting, and sharing the video. If you'd like to see more, feel free to subscribe to my channel to not miss the next uploads. Thank you very much!

Vielen herzlichen Dank!

Recorded for the project All of Bach on February 11th 2018 at the Walloon Church, Amsterdam. If you want to help us complete All of Bach, please subscribe to our channel http://bit.ly/2vhCeFB and consider donating http://bit.ly/2uZuMj5.
